About Marc Roper
At the heart of a meaningful life is the courage to reflect, seek understanding, and ask for support.
“To Truly Strive to Live a Life That Matters.”
At the heart of my counselling practice is the therapeutic relationship. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel heard, understood, and supported within a safe and respectful space. Trust and connection are not techniques — they are the foundation that allows counselling to be effective.
My work is informed by formal academic training across multiple levels, including a completed Bachelor degree in Counselling, supported by graduate certificate and diploma qualifications, and current postgraduate study at Master’s level. This foundation is complemented by an ongoing commitment to professional learning and reflective practice, ensuring that the counselling I offer remains current, ethically grounded, and responsive to the evolving needs of clients.
From this base, I draw on a range of evidence-informed therapeutic modalities and interventions, carefully tailored to each client’s needs, goals, and way of engaging with therapy. Rather than applying models rigidly, interventions are selected collaboratively and adjusted as the therapeutic relationship develops.
I recognise that people learn, process, and integrate change differently. Some clients benefit from visual explanations and structured frameworks, others from reflective conversation, and others from practical, real-world application. Where helpful, I integrate multiple learning channels into counselling, including:
Visual approaches — such as diagrams, metaphors, or selected resources to support understanding and insight
Conversational and reflective approaches — using dialogue and guided reflection to explore meaning and emotional experience
Practical and experiential approaches — including skills-based strategies and everyday practices to support growth beyond the counselling space.
Academic knowledge shapes how therapeutic options are considered; the therapeutic relationship shapes how those options are applied. My role is not to impose solutions, but to walk alongside clients — offering structure, clarity, and support while respecting autonomy and lived experience.
Together, we develop a counselling approach that fits you — grounded in professional training, responsive to your needs, and aligned with what matters most in your life.

Counselling for Couples
Relationships can feel like a maze—especially when communication breaks down or the spark that once brought two people together feels distant. Marc provides a safe, respectful space where couples can slow down, speak openly, and feel heard. Through guided conversations, he supports partners to rebuild understanding, strengthen emotional connection, and rediscover the values and intentions that sit at the heart of their relationship.
Supporting Men of All Ages
Marc has a special commitment to supporting men—young men finding their place in the world, husbands and fathers balancing life’s pressures, and older men seeking purpose and peace in later chapters of life. He role models strength, vulnerability, and resilience, helping men step into the lives they truly want to lead. Marc volunteers weekly with Queensland Corrective Services as a Prison Chaplain, bringing compassionate presence and support to men across two male correctional facilities in Brisbane, particularly during times of heightened vulnerability.
Guiding Young Men Toward Their Future
For young men, Marc offers steady encouragement, guidance, and practical support as they prepare for the road ahead. He works alongside them to build confidence, resilience, and a grounded sense of identity, particularly during periods when life feels uncertain, overwhelming, or in transition.
Navigating Life’s Challenges
From workplace stress and conflict, to health concerns, relationship and friendship challenges, or the growing pressures of mental health in today’s world, Marc supports clients in navigating life’s complexities with clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.
His approach is collaborative and practical, helping clients make sense of their experiences while developing strategies that feel realistic, supportive, and sustainable.
A Commitment to Crisis Support
Every week, Marc volunteers his time on the phones with Lifeline, supporting people in crisis and those experiencing suicidal thoughts. He is deeply committed to the belief that no life should be lost to suicide—any day, any time.
